TIDAL PREDICTIONS CONTROLLING EFFLUENT PUMPING.

An ASCII module (Microprocessor programmed in Basic) was used to calculate the daily tides and to control the pumping of treated effluent only when the tide was running out. This program used tidal constants provided by the Queensland Department of Harbours and Marine to calculate the time of high tides. This calculation overcame the problem of having to periodically enter tide times into the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC).
